Magnesium is a dietary mineral that plays a critical role in hundreds of biochemical reactions throughout the body. It can be used by the body to keep the immune system, muscles, nerves, cardiovascular system, and bones in good health. Magnesium is also one of the most common deficiencies in developed countries – often leading to symptoms such as irritability, fatigue, and muscle cramps.

We use magnesium in our Colds CX formulation to directly deliver magnesium to the nasal membrane. This has shown to assist the body in hydrating the sinuses and regenerating nasal mucosa, keeping the nasal passages in good health, and ready to stop potential infections.

The nasal passages can often become dried out after exposure to dry climate, air conditioning, and some medications. Airplanes and other commercial vehicles and buildings present a particularly difficult environment for the nasal passages because the air conditioning systems used by these facilities must often produce much cooler and drier air – keeping the body and nasal passages hydrated in these areas becomes much more difficult and this is one of the reasons we recommend using Colds CX while traveling.

Biochemical Properties

Magnesium supplements come in several forms – each with slightly different properties. The form used in Colds CX is called magnesium chloride, which is commonly found in seawater and is made up of one magnesium ion and two chloride ions. We use this form for its unique transdermal and water-soluble properties.
